About the Role
CRG is looking for a Bioinformatician with advanced experience in single-cell transcriptomics to work on the Biodiversity Cell Atlas Database (BCA). The selected candidate will process novel and existing single-cell transcriptomic datasets from diverse species, integrating comparative genomics and functional gene annotation to support cross-species analysis.
This role offers a unique chance to collaborate with EBI and the Wellcome Sanger Institute, making significant contributions to understanding cell type evolution and diversity across the tree of life.
Job Responsibilities
- Process and analyze single-cell transcriptomics datasets.
- Develop and maintain bioinformatics pipelines for data integration.
- Perform comparative genomics and cross-species analysis.
- Work closely with an interdisciplinary team of computational, molecular, and evolutionary biologists.
- Contribute to the development of the Biodiversity Cell Atlas Database.
Requirements
Must-Have Qualifications:
- Advanced experience in single-cell transcriptomic data analysis.
- Strong programming skills in Python, R, and Linux.
Desirable (but not required):
- Experience with bioinformatics pipelines (Nextflow/nf-core).
- Familiarity with relational databases (SQL).
- Knowledge of comparative genomics and functional genomics in non-model species.
Education:
- A Master’s or PhD in Bioinformatics, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
Language Requirement:
- Fluency in English (written and spoken).
