π¬ About the Research Project
The global rise of antibiotic-resistant bacteria highlights the urgent need for alternative therapies, and bacteriophages are promising candidates. However, understanding their infection biology is crucial for effective therapeutic applications.
This PhD project aims to:
β
Investigate bacteriophage-host interactions at the Gram-negative bacterial outer membrane
β
Study how outer membrane vesicles (OMVs) influence bacteriophage infection
β
Develop quantitative fluorescence spectroscopy techniques to analyze phage binding and entry
β
Collaborate with DFG-Priority Program SPP 2330, engaging with research institutions across Germany
This project offers hands-on training in biophysics, microbiology, membrane biology, and fluorescence microscopy, making it a high-impact opportunity for young researchers.
